Legit? You Tell Me.

Week 4 of the NFL season concludes with the Bengals and Steelers on Monday Night Football tonight. After 4 weeks, the Cowboys are sitting at 3-1 on the season. As of now, they are atop of the NFC East, leading the Giants and Eagles, by a game. Through 25% of the season they appear to be off to a solid start, but should Cowboys fan still wonder how much of a super contender they really are?

Dallas rolled through weeks 1 and 2 and It was expected against 2 not nearly as talented squads. Week 3 was absolutely nothing different. The Cowboys squared off against the Miami Dolphins (0-2), and looked at as possibly one of the worst teams in history.

They handled Miami the way they should despite a slow first half. After the first half the Cowboys headed to the locker room only leading 10-6. Personally I was not concerned at all and I knew my boys would bust it open in the second half. They did exactly that and sent Miami on their way home with a 31-6 loss.

Dak Prescott had back-to-back tremendous games to start the season and he did his thing in week 3 as well. Prescott threw for 9 touchdowns and nearly 1,000 yards in the first 3 games and fans were already talking about him being this years' MVP.

In the NFL, players staying healthy is a large part to teams success for the season. The Cowboys lost their second best receiver, Michael Gallup, due to a knee injury that happened late in week 2. He is expected to return as early as week 5 but it is still questionable on whether he will be healthy or not. They have been very healthy besides Gallup though and that is huge.

The Cowboys got off to a 3-0 start but on the other hand they had not played any top tier opponents and that kept non-Cowboys fans wondering are they really that legit? The answer came in week 4... or did it?

Prescott and company had the Saints (2-1) next up on their plate for week 4. The Saints were among the top of the rankings Pre-season and had a great season last year, losing to the Rams in the NFC championship. They suffered a big loss early in the season though, losing Drew Brees, their stud quarterback.

Playing the Saints without Brees still appeared to be their toughest challenge of the year but one they should be able to handle. They did not handle it. The Cowboys ended up losing 12-10 in week 4 and left a sour taste in my mouth and I am sure many fans felt the same way as I did after the game.

The tough loss left many football fans wondering if the Cowboys were as "legit" as there getting talked up to be after week 3. In all 3 of their games before the Saints, their opponents were win-less coming into the contest.

I saw it just as a bad game for Dallas and I am very confident that they will fix everything at practice this week as they prepare for the Packers (3-1) on Sunday. Coming back with a win in week 5 against a legit team is what the Cowboys need.

Last time I said the Cowboys were gonna win was against Miami and they did. The Dallas Cowboys are a top 5 football team in the National Football League and they will make that tough to argue against after this Sunday.
